Jet City Improv traveled over 625 miles this summer performing for kids with special needs at their summer camps. That’s a lot of road time, but it’s more than worth it.

Camps for children with Muscular Dystrophy or other disabilities, kids that had suffered from burns or that were struggling with arthritis or cancer – all received visits from a Jet City Improv team.

Over 665 kids were in attendance for the shows, not counting parents, counselors, nurses and friends.

At our 16th year performing for Burn Camp Eyabsut, Jet City Improv entered the Chili Cook-Off (a camp tradition) for the first time and my Nebraska Style Chili was honored by the campers as “Spiciest Chili.”

We also continued another long relationship with Camp Goodtimes, performing two shows for this camp for kids in various stages of cancer for the 17th year.

We added a new camp to the line-up with Camp Kesem, a University of Washington student sponsored and run camp for kids whose families are impacted by cancer. We also partnered up with the UW improv group, The Collective, to perform a benefit show for Camp Kesem for the second consecutive year before making our first trip to the camp itself at the end of the summer.

Our goal is to come to every camp that requests a show, sadly we had to turn down two camps this year due to budget constraints. Next year, we hope that every camp that gives us a call will get the opportunity to see a Jet City Improv show – and those kids will laugh, smile, feel better and just be a kid for a while, no matter what they are struggling with!
