Britain’s Baking Challenge
On your mark, get set, bake!
Join us under the big tent on the lawn for Britain’s Baking Challenge, a playful new comedy inspired by The Great British Baking Show that features a real baking on stage as four actors whisk, knead, and pour themselves into a dish suggested by the audience before subjecting their work to the subtle scrutiny of two remarkably placid judges.
While viewers of the hit PBS show will recognize a familiar British civility among the contestants, this improvised bake-off really turns up the heat by requiring all four competing characters to fetch a theme for their delicacy from a member of the audience before turning on their ovens and getting to work. Can’t you smell the warm, flaky comedy already?
Every performance is sure to contain all new twists and turnovers as the cooks prove they have what it takes to win both the affection of the crowd and the praise of the judges. The contestant that can maintain their modesty and plate their pastry without disaster will be named the winner of Britain’s Baking Challenge – until the next performance, of course!
When can I see it?
Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30pm, Nov. 14-22 & Dec. 5-20, 2019
Things might get a little cheeky, but unless somebody introduces a some sort of savory pastry with a little red pepper there won’t be anything all that spicy in this adorable competition.
About Jet City Improv Presents
Britain’s Baking Challenge is the newest edition to Jet City Improv’s line of improvised plays. Unlike most short-form improv formats that involve improvisers switching from game to game and creating brand new scenes every time, Jet City Improv Presents is an ongoing series of longform improv shows that present one or many stories around one cohesive theme. Improv still lies at the heart of each show, and every story is created based on unique suggestions and input every night. So yes, even though Jet City Improv Presents shows have sets and costumes and some thematic rules, the major role of the audience guarantees that no two performances are ever alike.
Jet City Improv’s 28th season is made possible by support from the following:
