Robert BolyardAlthough primarily a choral conductor by day, Robert Bolyard has been performing improv since 2011, and is thrilled to be playing with Jet City Improv! A native of Los Angeles, Robert lived for six years in Atlanta, where he took classes from Automatic Improv and soon began performing with them - first as an on-stage improviser and later as a musician, when he and bassist Nick Bilz accompanied improvised songs as the house band "As Per Usual." Robert soon found himself performing with many local groups at virtually every improv venue in Atlanta, and in 2013 he earned a spot as musical improviser at acclaimed improv theater Dad's Garage. A graduate of Occidental College and the Yale School of Music, Robert has conducted student, amateur, and professional choirs alike, and is the founding director of Uncommon Practice. Robert moved to Seattle in 2014, and currently serves as Minister of Music and Organist at Woodland Park Presbyterian Church, Music Director of the Seattle Jewish Chorale, and Director of the Vocal Ensemble at DigiPen Institute of Technology, where he also teaches music history. Robert lives in a tiny apartment near the Space Needle with his husband Andrew and their cat Margo.
