104: CultivatiNg Technique and Stage Craft

Dive headfirst into Technical Skills and Acting for Improv to launch you from a beginner to an advanced performer! This class is for those who have little to no acting/performance experience that is needed for higher level improv.

New Class Coming Late July

Improv 104 is all about leveling up your performance skills. This course is designed for improvisers who have completed Improv 103 and are ready to deepen their craft by exploring essential acting techniques and stage awareness. You’ll discuss key acting terms and theories that every improviser should know, then bring those ideas to life through focused scenework and real-time instructor feedback.

As the final class in the 100-level sequence, Improv 104 helps prepare students for the more focused 200-level classes. Core concepts include emotional connection, honest and subtle character work, and building strong stage presence and stage pictures. You’ll also get hands-on practice with advanced short-form games and be introduced to foundational long-form techniques. The class ends with a student showcase that highlights your growth and performance readiness.

In this class, you will:
  • Discuss and apply acting theory that supports improv
  • Explore emotional connection and honest reactions in scenes
  • Build grounded, dynamic characters
  • Strengthen physical presence and stage awareness
  • Receive supportive, actionable feedback
  • Practice advanced short-form games
  • Begin exploring long-form techniques
  • Take part in a final advanced short-form student showcase
  • Receive free admission to most Jet City Improv shows during your class session, subject to availability

Who: Adults 18 and older

Prerequisite: Completion of Improv 103 at Jet City Improv, or equivalent improv experience elsewhere

Price: $365 for 7 weeks
We want classes to be accessible. If cost is a barrier, please reach out to [email protected] to ask about scholarship options or volunteer opportunities.
