Interested in being a part of the JCI family? Our truly amazing volunteers are the heart and soul of our audience’s experience and we’re always looking for more fun folks to join them!

Volunteer positions include: Ushering, selling tickets (box office), selling popcorn (concessions stand), and bar tending

Besides the satisfaction of making magic, here’s what you get:

  • A seat to watch shows in-progress when all your duties are done
  • Free admission for you and a guest to any show that you’re not working (as long as there are seats are available)
  • A discount on tuition to our improv classes (equal to $10 off tuition per shift volunteered, up to about half-off)

Still excited? Great, you sound like our kind of person! The minimum requirement for becoming a volunteer with us is at least 3 shows (out as many as 26) per month for at least three months.

What is the time commitment on a typical show night?

Volunteers are asked to arrive one hour before the show begins (i.e. 6:30pm for an 7:30pm show) and stay through the show, plus a few minutes afterwards for some light cleaning. So that adds up to about 3 hours if you’re volunteering at one show. On nights we have two shows, you’re welcome to sign up for the early shift (6:30pm-9:30pm), or the later shift (9pm-shortly before midnight), or BOTH! (We prefer volunteers volunteer for both shows on a night that has two show, but it is not required.)

How many weeks/months/years would you like a volunteer to be a part of the program?

We ask volunteers to be able to give us at least three shows per month, for a minimum three-month commitment. Many volunteers stay with us for much longer – some for years and years!

Am I required to stick to any particular schedule?

Volunteers can make their own schedule! We schedule them one week at a time, so you can work a different night (Thursday, Friday or Saturday) each time.

Do you have any particular requirements?

Volunteers do have to stand for extended lengths of time, and may have to lift some things (boxes, cases of beer or soda, garbage bags).
