201: Advanced Short Form & Hosting

Build confidence in high-energy short-form improv games while learning how to host, warm up an audience, and keep a show moving. This class is for improvisers ready to make bolder choices, play with bigger characters, and bring more energy and presence to the stage.

Classes Start the Week of July 19th

Improv 201 is all about advanced short-form games, bold performance choices, and audience connection. This course is designed for improvisers who have completed Improv 103 and are ready to grow their confidence in fast-paced games that require strong listening, ensemble support, quick commitment, and clear character work.

Students will explore more complex short-form structures while practicing the skills that make a game feel exciting from start to finish. You’ll focus on bringing energy to each scene, making strong choices under pressure, supporting your fellow players, and creating memorable moments for the audience.

This class also introduces the fundamentals of hosting. Students will practice welcoming an audience, explaining games clearly, setting the tone for a show, warming up the room, and guiding transitions between games. The class ends with a student showcase that gives students a chance to put their advanced short-form and hosting skills into practice.
