Want to learn the fundamentals of sketch comedy writing online? Whether your brand new to sketch or looking to sharpen your skills, this class will help you develop your comedic voice and writing process.
Each class will introduce a new sketch format, followed by writing exercises, feedback, and joke punch-ups. Students will leave with three written sketches and a solid foundation in sketch writing. Weekly Breakdown: 📌 Week 1: Premise – Finding the game of your sketch 📌 Week 2: Character – Building strong comedic characters 📌 Week 3: Parody & Commercials – Writing in existing formats 📌 Week 4: Solo Characters & Final Reads – Refining your work Each session will end with a writing assignment (Yes! Homework!), and all sketches will be read, discussed, and given edits in class.
