202: Understanding Storytelling

Prerequisites: Students should have completed at least Improv 102 and 103, or have equivalent experience.
This class is appropriate for more advanced improvisers seeking to brush off their narrative long form skills! *When: THURSDAYS 202, Oct 23rd-Dec 18th 7pm-9:30PM Instructor: Raynee Morris (she/they) Where: At University Heights Center 5031 University Way NE. In the University District. (DRAMA ROOM) (Showcase: Sat Dec 13th 5:30pm-7pm) * This class has eight classes instead of the normal seven with the showcase being before the last class. Explore how to turn improvised scenes into compelling stories. This class introduces you to long-form narrative improv, the foundation of Jet City Improv’s signature style of fully improvised plays.
You’ll learn how to build and sustain characters, develop story arcs across multiple scenes, and use classic storytelling frameworks to create strong narrative structure. Whether your goal is to perform long-form shows or simply sharpen your storytelling skills, this class will give you the tools and confidence to bring your ideas to life onstage. Refund Policy
- Tuition can only be fully refunded if the student contacts Jet City Improv two or more weeks prior to the date of the first class.
- Refund or deferment requests received after that time are not eligible for a refund or deferment.
- Please contact the Education Department at [email protected] regarding questions about payment, refunds, and deferment.
- Please note: If we do not hit a minimum number of students enrolled by one week before the class begins, we may delay the beginning of this class by one (1) week or shorten the class by 30 minutes.
- If the class time is shortened, registered students will be partially refunded to reflect a pro-rated tuition.
Additional Notes
- All students must attend the first day of classes.
- You must attend 7 out of the 8 classes to move onto the next course.
- We do not offer make-up sessions for classes you do not attend.
