302: Telling a Story That Matters

302 in and advanced narrative course to deepen your knowledge of how Jet City Improv creates its signature improvised plays!

Prerequisites: Students should have completed at least Improv 102 and 103,  and the 202 classes or have equivalent narrative improv experience.

*Price: $425 for 8 weeks. The Full Show will be after the last class and is 3 hours long!

This advanced course is your chance to take everything you’ve learned about storytelling and apply it to the creation of a fully improvised play. In this performance-focused class, you’ll rehearse and shape a long-form narrative show under the guidance of your instructor, who will take on the role of director.

You’ll dig into character arcs, ensemble storytelling, and narrative structure while building a fully realized world onstage. This course is designed to mirror the experience of being cast in one of Jet City Improv’s Mainstage Presents shows. It’s a deep dive into the craft and complexity of long-form narrative improv, culminating in a featured performance.

​In this class, you will:
  • Collaborate to create and rehearse a fully improvised play
  • Receive director-style guidance to shape a complete show
  • Explore advanced storytelling techniques and character arcs
  • Build ensemble trust and shared narrative language
  • Rehearse with a focus on tone, structure, and thematic clarity
  • Perform a fully improvised featured show for a public audience

Refund Policy
  • Tuition can only be fully refunded if the student contacts Jet City Improv two or more weeks prior to the date of the first class.
  • Refund or deferment requests received after that time are not eligible for a refund or deferment.
  • Please contact the Education Department at [email protected] regarding questions about payment, refunds, and deferment.
  • Please note: If we do not hit a minimum number of students enrolled by one week before the class begins, we may delay the beginning of this class by one (1) week or shorten the class by 30 minutes.
  • If the class time is shortened, registered students will be partially refunded to reflect a pro-rated tuition.
 

Additional Notes
  • All students must attend the first day of classes.
  • You must attend 7 out of the 8 classes to move onto the next course.
  • We do not offer make-up sessions for classes you do not attend.
