How do you make a scene funny? What is that one unusual thing in the scene that can turn it from an average scene to a hilarious one! Learn the nuts and bolts of foundational long-form improv formats, while receiving personalized notes and working towards a showcase performance!

How do you make a scene truly funny? What turns an ordinary moment into something hilarious? This class focuses on using structure, patterns, and bold choices to unlock your comedic instincts in long-form improv.
You’ll explore foundational formats like La Ronde, The Harold, and The Armando while learning how to identify the “game” of the scene, heighten unusual moments, and support your ensemble with strong edits and callbacks. This class is ideal for improvisers looking to sharpen their long-form skills and grow their comedic confidence in a supportive environment. In this class, you will:
Who: Adults 18 and older Prerequisite: Completion of Improv 103 at Jet City Improv, or equivalent improv experience elsewhere Course order: 200-level classes may be taken in any order. Price: $385 for 8 weeks We want classes to be accessible. If cost is a barrier, please reach out to [email protected] to ask about scholarship options or volunteer opportunities. Note: This class has eight class sessions instead of the normal seven. The showcase takes place before the final class, so the last session can be used for reflection, feedback, and next steps. Refund Policy
- Tuition can only be fully refunded if the student contacts Jet City Improv two or more weeks prior to the date of the first class.
- Refund or deferment requests received after that time are not eligible for a refund or deferment.
- Please contact the Education Department at [email protected] regarding questions about payment, refunds, and deferment.
- Please note: If we do not hit a minimum number of students enrolled by one week before the class begins, we may delay the beginning of this class by one (1) week or shorten the class by 30 minutes.
- If the class time is shortened, registered students will be partially refunded to reflect a pro-rated tuition.
Additional Notes
- All students must attend the first day of classes.
- You must attend 7 out of the 8 classes to move onto the next course.
- We do not offer make-up sessions for classes you do not attend.
