The core of our outreach work is our performances and workshops for kids in the community and around the Northwest.
Every summer, we take Jet City Improv across the state of Washington to perform summer camps for kids with life-altering illnesses or disabilities (such as cancer, Muscular Dystrophy, juvenile diabetes, physical disabilities, or developmental disabilities), or kids recovering from the loss of a loved one. We bring laughter to kids that need it the most, at no cost to the organizations that operate the camps. |
These kids have to deal with hardship all year round, but at these camps they can laugh, play, be with one another, and just get to feel like being a kid. As the camp counselors tell us, Jet City Improv’s performances are one of the highlights of their stay at the camps, and they always greet us with excitement, smiles and cheers, because they know that as soon as we arrive, they are just minutes away from laughing at a great show, shouting out suggestions for our improv scenes, and sometimes even joining us in the fun on stage.
In the summer of 2019, over 1000 campers, staff and parents at 13 different camps were treated to JCI performances or workshops. In 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most of our camp shows were performed virtually (on line), but in Summer 2021 & 2022 returned to a mix of some virtual shows, and some in-person shows.

Dear Mike, Just wanted to send you a note to thank you and your group for coming to Camp Discovery. You are a real treat for the kids and they always look forward to seeing you guys!
